Train for the Berkeley Half Marathon with Our Community Partners

The Berkeley Half Marathon is more than a race—it’s a community. We’re proud to partner with Cal Running Club (CRC) and Mid-Peninsula Running Club (MPRC) to provide free training opportunities for runners of all ages and paces. Whether you’re chasing your first 5K finish or looking for a strong Half Marathon PR, these groups are here to help you prepare, connect, and thrive.


Free Training with Cal Running Club (CRC)

The Cal Running Club (CRC) is a student-led organization at UC Berkeley dedicated to making running accessible and fun for all levels. Their officers bring years of running experience—ranging from competitive track athletes to first-time Half Marathoners—and they share a common passion: building an inclusive, beginner-friendly community.

CRC’s fall training program is designed with the Berkeley Half in mind, offering structured workouts, long runs, and a supportive crew to keep you motivated through race day.

CRC Fall Training Schedule

  • Track Tuesdays: 5:30 PM at the UC Berkeley Track
  • Sunday Long Runs: 9:30 AM at the Class of 1914 Fountain, across from Café Strada

Free Training with Mid-Peninsula Running Club (MPRC)

The Mid-Peninsula Running Club (MPRC) is a vibrant, inclusive running community based in San Mateo with more than 200 members. They welcome all paces, ages, and abilities—from walkers to experienced marathoners—fostering a supportive environment where runners can challenge themselves and grow together.

MPRC is known for its friendly Saturday group runs, post-run camaraderie, and dedication to promoting local race events like the Berkeley Half. Members often speak about how joining the club transformed their running—from solo workouts to a connected, joyful practice with friends and encouragement.

MPRC Saturday Runs

  • When: Saturdays at 8:45 AM
  • Where: Seal Point Park, 1901 J Hart Clinton Dr, San Mateo, CA 94401
    • Meet by the four cement benches near the north end of the parking lot
  • Distance: Up to 6 miles
  • Who: Open to all ages, paces, and abilities
