Runners continue along the San Francisco Bay Trail towards Oakland before a quick turn around at Bolivar Drive to make their way back towards Berkeley. Water Stop 5 is just before this turn around to help runners keep moving. With the Bay Bridge and the San Francisco Bay now on their left, runners will find Aquatic Park to their right. Nestled between the highway and edge of the city Aquatic Park was built by the Works Progress Administration in 1930. Should runners want to visit the park outside of race day they’ll features picnic areas, “Dream Land for Kids”—a large children’s playground, a pedestrian-bicycle path, and a disc golf course. Waterside Workshops is a non-profit organization housed inside Aquatic Park, providing job-training, classes, and recreation opportunities for local youth while offering services to the community including a bicycle shop and repair facility, a full service wooden boat building shop, and Berkeley’s only waterfront coffee shop.

Like Mile 9, Mile 10 is a comfortable flat section of the course allowing you to cruise along the water and enjoy the views before you reach the end of Mile 10 at the beginning of the Berkeley Marina.
