Race Distance: 5 Kilometers / 3.1 Miles

Our fast 5K Race is a great option for runners at every level. This fast course offers a tour of Downtown Berkeley and a lively college neighborhood, finishing just a few short blocks from the Main Finish Line festival. This distance is perfect for new runners, sprinters, families (strollers and children are welcome), sprinters, and anyone who loves to experience the community spirit of running together.

5K Race Details

  • Youth 5K
    The Berkeley Half Marathon 5K Race is perfect for runners of all ages. With the approval of a legal guardian, all participants under the age of 12 can participate in our Youth 5K and take advantage of discounted registration ($25.00 plus taxes/fees) and youth sized participant shirts.
  • Waves

    Start Location: Milvia St. at Kittredge St., Berkeley, California 94704

    Sunday, November 19th, 2017

    • Wave 1 – 9:15 am
    • Wave 2 – 9:20 am
    • Wave 3 – 9:25 am

    All participants with strollers must run in Wave 3.

  • Course Limits
    All 5K participants are required to finish the race within 1 hour, a 19:21 minute/mile pace. The Finish Line will close promptly at 10:30 am. Runners who come in after this time will not be considered official finishers.
  • Water Stops
    There is 1 water stop (no GU) along the 5k course.
  • Elevation

  • Amenities
    All participants receive a technical fabric long-sleeved shirt. Finishers receive a finisher’s medal, free photos, electronic finisher’s certificate, and individual care, both on and off the course and following – including food, beverage, heat sheet and medical care.

  • Awards and Scoring
    Awards will be given to the top three overall women and top three overall men in the 5K. Age group awards will be given to the top three females and top three males in the 5K in each age division. Top 3 overall winners will be removed from age group awards (no double dipping). Age group awards will be mailed after the event. Top overall winner of the Youth 5K will receive a grant from Berkeley Public Schools Fund to enrich their classroom.
  • Divisions
    Half Marathon, 5K and 10K awards will be given to the top three finishers in the following age divisions: 19 and under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+.
