  • How do I update my estimated finish time?

    Changes can be made to your estimated finish time until September 27th. Please send us an email at customersupport@berkeleyhalfmarathon.com with what you would like your estimated finish time to be changed to. The last day to make changes is September 27th.

    After September 27th all changes will need to be made at packet pickup. If you need to update your EFT/wave assignment, first pick up your bib and then head to the solutions table.

  • Can I switch race distances?

    Runners may request to change what distance they will run at the Berkeley Half Marathon based on distance availability.  There will be a $10 event change fee for all Berkeley Half Marathon race distance event changes, plus the difference in event distance prices. No refunds will be given for downgrading your event. All Berkeley Half Marathon event distance changes must be submitted via email and will only be accepted until September 27th. Please email support@emallc.com and include your name, email and the event that you would like to change to. Please allow 3-5 business days for your registration to be updated. We will then resend over your confirmation email to verify the change.

    After September 27th all changes will need to be made at packet pickup for a $10 change fee and will be based on availability in the events.

  • How do I know if I am registered?
    You can confirm your registration HERE. Please Note: Bib numbers and wave assignments will be emailed to participants in early November.

Cancellations

  • If I want to cancel my registration, will I get a refund?

    As per our cancellation policy, we adhere to the standard road racing industry policy. All entry fees are non-refundable and non-transferable. This is noted on our registration application, and when you register for any of our events, you must agree to this policy. You may not give or sell your number to another individual – if you do, this could result in your disqualification as well as the disqualification of the runner who uses your race number.

    The entry fee for this year’s event will not transfer to next year’s event, no exceptions. This policy stays in effect whether you are injured, have an unexpected business or family emergency, pregnancy, etc. There are no exceptions. Any inquiry regarding this policy will be directed back to this page.

    In the event you cannot run the 2017 race at all, please send an emailed request with your cancellation to cancellations@jumpingfences.org and include your name, gender, address, phone number, and race distance. By canceling your registration, you won’t receive a refund, but we will send you the race shirt after the race. Medals are not sent to those who do not actually complete the course.

    We must receive your emailed cancellation by November 1st. If your emailed cancellation is received after that date, we will not be able to process it. Please email cancellations to: cancellations@jumpingfences.org.

  • Can I move my race registration to next year?

Packet Pickup

  • How do I get my Race Bib?

    All race participants are required to pick up their bib, timing chip, and race shirt at Bib Pickup. Bibs will not available for pickup on Race Day. If a runner cannot attend the expo, a friend or family member may pick up the packet with a copy of the runner’s photo ID and bib number confirmation email. Learn more on our Packet Pickup page.

  • When and where is packet pickup happening?

    The Berkeley Half Marathon Packet Pickup will be at Sports Basement Berkeley (2727 Milvia St, Berkeley, CA 94703).

    • Friday, November 18, 2015 11am-7pm
    • Saturday, November 19, 2015: 9am-5pm

  • If I cannot make it to packet pickup, is there another time I can pickup my bib?

    All participants (who did not pay for bib mailing) are required to pick up their bib, timing chip, and race shirt at the packet pickup. All Half Marathon, 10K, and 5K participants must attend the packet pickup to pick up their race packets. Bibs will not be available on Race Day.

    If you paid for bib mailing during your registration, your race bib and timing chip will be shipped to you before the race. Your participant shirt will not be mailed and will be available for pickup at our Packet Pickup or after the race on Race Day. There will be no race day bib pickup.

    If you are unable to personally make it to Packet Pickup, you may have a fellow runner, friend, or family member pick up your bib and race packet for you. They will need a printed copy of your confirmation email with your bib and wave number and a copy of your photo ID.

  • Can I have my friend or family member pick up my bib?

    All bibs must be picked up at our Packet Pickup. There will be no race day pick up.

    If you are unable to personally make it to the race expo you may have a fellow runner, friend, or family member pick up your bib and race packet for you. They will need a printed copy of your confirmation email with your bib and wave number and a copy of your photo ID.

Course Time Requirements

  • What is the course limit for the Half Marathon?

    All Half Marathon participants are required to finish the race within 4 hours or an 18:20 minute/mile pace. The Finish Line will close promptly at 12:30 pm. Runners who come in after this time will not be considered official finishers. If anywhere along the course you fall behind that pace time, there is a chance that water stops and aid stations may have shut down as we are required to open streets back up based on that closure. If you do not finish under the course limit, we can not guarantee you a medal or official finisher’s time.

    All 10K participants are required to finish the race within 2 hour or a 19:19 minute/mile pace. If anywhere along the course you fall behind that pace time there is a chance that water stops and aid stations may have shut down as we are required to open streets back up based on that closure. Race Photos and Results

  • Where can I find the photos taken during the race?

    GamefaceMedia will be out on the course to capture photos of every runner. Photos will be available for free after the race. We will send an email confirmation when the photos are ready. You can also access past race results and photos here.

  • How are race times tracked?

    The race is timed using ChronoTrack tag technology. Your tag must be picked up at our packet pickup location and worn on the shoe during the race. Your results cannot be posted unless the tag is worn on your shoe in the proper manner.

    Unofficial results will be posted in the Finish Line Festival Area and on the Results page on this website thirty minutes after the first runner crosses the finish line. Friends and family can check the website for up-to-the-minute race results.

    The timing tag must be worn on the shoe during the entire race. Not wearing the tag will result in missing split times, which may result in disqualification.

    Any change requests regarding the unofficial results must be submitted within three days after the race. Failure to contact us within three days may result in your times not being listed in our web results.

Hydration

  • What is available to me at all water stops?

    Half Marathon: There are 7 water stops along the Half Marathon course, and Water Stop 3 has GU.

    10K: There are 4 water stops along the 10K course, and none have GU.

    5K: There is 1 water stop (no GU) along the 5k course.

    All water stops offer water, electrolyte, medical aid, and toilets.

  • Are hydration packs allowed on the course?

    Standard hydration packs are allowed. Backpacks with hydration reservoir bladders will not be allowed given security concerns.

10K Runner Shuttles

  • What are my 10K Runner Shuttle options?

    Pre-race buses from Martin Luther King Jr. Way at Center St. near the Main Start Line to 10K Start Line are available free for runners from 7:30 am and 8:15 am. There are no runner shuttles available after the race to take 10K runners back to the 10K Start Line. Please plan accordingly.

  • How do I get from the Main Start Line to the 10K Start Line before the race?

    Pre-race buses from Martin Luther King Jr. Way at Center St. near the Main Start Line to 10K Start Line are available free for runners from 7:30 am and 8:15 am.

  • Is there a 10K Runner Shuttle after the race?

    There are no runner shuttles available after the race to take 10K runners back to the 10K Start Line. Please plan accordingly. We recommend runners park near the Main Finish Line and take our 10K Runner Shuttles to the 10K Start Line before the race. This allows for easy access to your car after you cross the Finish Line.

Baggage Check

  • Where should I store my stuff on race day?

    Check your sweats at Berkeley High School, entrance on Allston St. Sweats Check will be available starting at 6:30am. No sweats check will be available at the 10K start line. Participants who are checking sweats must use the bag provided. All bags MUST be clearly marked with your bib number. We will have these available at the sweats drop off. There will be no exceptions. Please write your bib number legibly on the bag and drop it off securely tied. Berkeley Half Marathon is not liable for any lost, stolen, or damaged items. Do not place any valuable (like wallets, phones and keys) or heavy items in your sweat bag. We also recommend that you do not over stuff your bag. Baggage claim will be open until 1:00 pm.

    Any clothing discarded at the main start line, 10K start line, or relay exchange point will be donated to a local organization.

  • What do I do if I lost something on race day or forgot my sweats bag?

    Any items found on the course will be brought to the info booth area at the Finish Line Festival. Please see an info booth volunteer if you have lost or found an item. All lost and found clothing not claimed at the end of race day will be donated to charity. For information on lost and found items, please contact The Berkeley Half Marathon at customersupport@berkeleyhalfmarathon.com.

    You will have five days to claim your sweats bag or contact us about shipping your bag. The is a $15 shipping charge for returning leftover baggage. All unclaimed bags will be donated to charity.
