  • How do I update my estimated finish time?

    Changes can be made to your estimated finish time until October 10th. Please send us an email at customersupport@berkeleyhalfmarathon.com with what you would like your estimated finish time to be changed to. The last day to make changes is October 10th.

    After October 10th all changes will need to be made at packet pickup. If you need to update your EFT/corral assignment, first pick up your bib and then head to the solutions table.

  • Can I switch race distances?

    Runners may request to change what distance they will run at the Biofreeze Berkeley Half Marathon based on distance availability.  There will be a $10 event change fee for all Biofreeze Berkeley Half Marathon race distance event changes, plus the difference in event distance prices. No refunds will be given for downgrading your event. All Biofreeze Berkeley Half Marathon event distance changes must be submitted via email and will only be accepted until October 10th. Please email support@emallc.com and include your name, email and the event that you would like to change to. Please allow 3-5 business days for your registration to be updated. We will then resend over your confirmation email to verify the change.

    AfterOctober 10th all changes will need to be made at packet pickup for a $10 change fee and will be based on availability in the events.

  • How do I know if I am registered?
    You can confirm your registration HERE. Please Note: Bib numbers and corral assignments will be emailed to participants in early November.

Cancellations/Refund

  • Can I cancel, transfer, or defer my registration?

    Sorry, registration for The 2018 Biofreeze Berkeley Half Marathon in non-transferable, cancellations and deferrals are not allowed, and you may not give or sell your number to another individual.

  • Can I do a race event change?

    Runners may request an event change and change the distance they are running for the Biofreeze Berkeley Half Marathon based on availability in events. There will be a $10.00 event change fee for all event changes, plus the difference in events. No refunds will be given for downgrading your event. All event changes must be submitted via email, and will only be accepted untilOctober 10th. Please email support@emallc.com and include your name, email, and the event that you would like to change to.

Packet Pickup

  • How do I get my Race Bib?

    All race participants are required to pick up their bib, timing chip, and race shirt at Bib Pickup. Bibs will not available for pickup on Race Day. If a runner cannot attend the expo, a friend or family member may pick up the packet with a copy of the runner’s photo ID and bib number confirmation email. Learn more on our Packet Pickup page.

  • When and where is packet pickup happening?

    The Biofreeze Berkeley Half Marathon Packet Pickup will be at Sports Basement Berkeley (2727 Milvia St, Berkeley, CA 94703).

    • Friday, November 16, 2018 11am-7pm
    • Saturday, November 17, 2018: 9am-5pm

  • If I cannot make it to packet pickup, is there another time I can pickup my bib?

    All participants (who did not pay for bib mailing) are required to pick up their bib, timing chip, and race shirt at the packet pickup. All Half Marathon, 10K, and 5K participants must attend the packet pickup to pick up their race packets. Bibs will not be available on Race Day.

    If you paid for bib mailing during your registration, your race bib and timing chip will be shipped to you before the race. Your participant shirt will not be mailed and will be available for pickup at our Packet Pickup or after the race on Race Day. There will be no race day bib pickup.

    If you are unable to personally make it to Packet Pickup, you may have a fellow runner, friend, or family member pick up your bib and race packet for you. They will need a printed copy of your confirmation email with your bib and corral number and a copy of your photo ID.

  • Can I have my friend or family member pick up my bib?

    All bibs must be picked up at our Packet Pickup. There will be no race day pick up.

Bibs

  • Can I have a friend or family member pick up my bib?

    If you are unable to personally make it to packet pickup, you may have a fellow runner, friend, or family member pick up your bib and race packet for you. They will need a printed copy of your confirmation email with your bib and corral number and a copy of your photo ID. 

  • What if I want to change my corral?

    Bib numbers and corrals will be assigned in November via email. Runners may request a corral change at the Solutions Table at Packet Pickup. Corral changes are not guaranteed and will be based on availability in the corral. Updates to your estimated finish time can be made until October 10th. Please email [email protected].com and include what you would like to update your EFT.

    After the deadline: If your training has gone better than expected and you would like to move up to a faster corral, pick up your race number at packet pickup and then proceed to the Solutions table to be re-assigned to the appropriate corral. To move back to a slower corral, simply start in that corral on race morning. No official corral change is necessary.

  • What is my bib number and corral number?

    There will be a bib confirmation email that goes out in early November that will include your bib number and corral assignment.

  • What do I need to bring with me to packet pickup?
    Your Photo ID and Bib Number Confirmation Email.

  • Can I have my bib mailed to me?
    During your online registration for Biofreeze Berkeley Half Marathon’s events, you may pay $10 for your bib and timing chip to be mailed to you before the race. Your participant shirt will not be shipped and will be available for pickup at our Packet Pickup or after the race on Race Day. Please note, the bib mailing option will expire at 12:00 a.m. on October 10, 2018.

Course Time Requirements

  • What is the course limit for the Half Marathon?

    All Half Marathon participants are required to finish the race within 4 hours or an 18:20 minute/mile pace. The Finish Line will close promptly at 11:45 pm. Runners who come in after this time will not be considered official finishers. If anywhere along the course you fall behind that pace time, there is a chance that water stops and aid stations may have shut down as we are required to open streets back up based on that closure. If you do not finish under the course limit, we can not guarantee you a medal or official finisher’s time.

  • What is the course limit for the 10K?

    All 10K participants are required to finish the race within 2 hour or a 19:19 minute/mile pace. If anywhere along the course you fall behind that pace time there is a chance that water stops and aid stations may have shut down as we are required to open streets back up based on that closure. If you do not finish under the course limit, we can not guarantee you a medal or official finisher’s time. Runners who come in after this time will not be considered official finishers.

  • What is the course limit for the 5K?

Course Rules

  • Are music players, phones, GPS trackers or other personal electronics allowed on the course?
    Yes, personal electronics like music players and GPS trackers are allowed on the course.
  • Are strollers allowed on the course?
    Runners with strollers are permitted on the 5K course only and are required to start in the last corral. Strollers are not permitted on the Half Marathon or 10K courses.

    Registrants intending to run the 5K with a stroller should check the box marked “Stroller Division” during registration. Children in strollers are not required to be registered, but will not receive a shirt or medal.

  • Are walkers and strollers allowed in the 5K?
    Yes, walkers and strollers are allowed on the 5K course, as long as participants finish within the 5K course time limit. Runners with strollers are required to start in the last corral. Registrants intending to run the 5K with a stroller should check the box marked “Stroller Division” during registration. Children in strollers are not required to be registered, but will not receive a shirt or medal.

Race Photos and Results

  • Where can I find the photos taken during the race?

    Marathon Photos race photographers will be out on the course to capture photos of every runner. Photos will be available for free after the race. We will send an email confirmation when the photos are ready. You can also access past race results and photos here.

  • How are race times tracked?

    The race is timed using ChronoTrack tag technology. Your tag must be picked up at our packet pickup location and worn on the shoe during the race. Your results cannot be posted unless the tag is worn on your shoe in the proper manner.

    Unofficial results will be posted in the Finish Line Festival Area and on the Results page on this website thirty minutes after the first runner crosses the finish line. Friends and family can check the website for up-to-the-minute race results.

    The timing tag must be worn on the shoe during the entire race. Not wearing the tag will result in missing split times, which may result in disqualification.

    Any change requests regarding the unofficial results must be submitted within three days after the race. Failure to contact us within three days may result in your times not being listed in our web results.

Hydration

  • What is available to me at all water stops?

    Half Marathon: There are 7 water stops along the Half Marathon course, and Water Stop 3 has GU. 

    10K: There are 3 water stops along the 10K course, and none have GU.

    5K: There is 1 water stop (no GU) along the 5k course.

    All water stops offer water, electrolyte, medical aid, and toilets.

  • Are hydration packs allowed on the course?

    Standard hydration packs are allowed. Backpacks with hydration reservoir bladders will not be allowed given security concerns.

Gear Check

  • Where should I store my stuff on race day?

    Check your gear at Berkeley High School, entrance on Allston St. Gear Check will be available starting at 6:30am. No gear check will be available at the 10K start line. Participants who are checking gear must use the bag provided. All bags MUST be clearly marked with your bib number. We will have these available at the gear drop off. There will be no exceptions. Please write your bib number legibly on the bag and drop it off securely tied. Biofreeze Berkeley Half Marathon is not liable for any lost, stolen, or damaged items. Do not place any valuable (like wallets, phones and keys) or heavy items in your gear bag. We also recommend that you do not over stuff your bag. Baggage claim will be open until 1:00 pm.

    Any clothing discarded at the start line will be donated to a local organization.

  • What do I do if I lost something on race day or forgot my gear bag?

    Any items found on the course will be brought to the info booth area at the Finish Line Festival. Please see an info booth volunteer if you have lost or found an item. All lost and found clothing not claimed at the end of race day will be donated to charity. For information on lost and found items, please contact The Biofreeze Berkeley Half Marathon at customersupport@berkeleyhalfmarathon.com.

    You will have five days to claim your gear bag or contact us about shipping your bag. The is a $15 shipping charge for returning leftover baggage. All unclaimed bags will be donated to charity.
